FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
General
Maine Coons mature more slowly then many other breeds, and we believe their natural hormones play an important role in supporting healthy growth, bone development, and overall well-being. To allow for this important stage of development, we ask that females be spayed by 8 months of age and males be neutered by 12 months of age, unless your veterinary recommends otherwise.
Our kittens see the vet at least twice before going to their new homes and will have received their first 2 of 3 vaccinations (8 and 12 weeks), and will need a 3rd around 16 weeks. - Kittens will be dewormed twice.- 2 year health guarantee for Hip and HCM (heart).- Each kitten will go home with a care package that includes a blanket and toys with smells they are accustom to.-30 day Trupanion health insurance packet. -Sample of current food.-Breeder slip for registration with TICA (once proof of spay/neuter).
Providing our cats with a high quality diet is essential for their growth, energy, and long term health. We feed a combination of Tiki cat wet food, Orijen kibble, and Smack dehydrated raw. Feeding a raw whole prey cat food diet can be beneficial for cats as it provides a natural and balanced source of nutrients, including protein, amino acids, and essential fatty acids. It can also help maintain dental health and promote overall well-being.
We send our kittens to their forever homes at 12-14 weeks.Keeping kittens with their mother for an extended period is one of the best ways to ensure they grow up healthy, well-socialized, and emotionally secure. This also allows for them to have had 2 sets of vaccines, microchipped, and checked by a Vet. We want to ensure the kitten is using a litter box and is on a solid food diet. We are better able to assess each kittens unique personality and match them to the appropriate family.
We are happy to discuss delivery options when needed. Delivery is available for an additional fee of $2/km round trip, and in some cases, accommodation costs may apply. This fee helps cover the time, travel, fuel, and wear on vehicle involved in safely transporting your kitten. Our priority is making sure your kitten arrives comfortably, safe, and with as little stress as possible. We may be able to deliver or meet families in areas such as Kamloops, Kelowna, Salmon Arm, Vancouver, and locations in between. Final arrangements will depend on distance, scheduling, and what is safest for the kitten.
