Why We Don’t Always Have Kittens Available

One of the questions we’re asked most often is, “When will you have kittens available?”

The honest answer is: we don’t always know.

At Pawz and Purz Maine Coons, we don’t breed on a schedule—we breed when it’s right for our cats. Every litter is carefully planned with health, temperament, and the well-being of our queens as the highest priority.

Quality Over Quantity

We intentionally keep our cattery small. That means our queens have plenty of time to rest between litters, enjoy life as beloved family pets, and receive the individual attention they deserve.

While this means we have fewer kittens available each year, we believe it results in healthier mothers, better-socialized kittens, and happier families.

Our Kittens Are Raised in Our Home

From the day they’re born, our kittens are surrounded by everyday family life. They hear household sounds, receive gentle daily handling, and are introduced to new experiences as they grow.

By the time they leave for their forever homes, they’ve learned so much more than how to eat and use a litter box—they’ve learned to trust people, explore with confidence, and enjoy affection.

Our goal has never been to produce the most kittens. Our goal is to raise healthy, confident Maine Coons that become cherished members of their families for many years to come.
